Your First Massage

A quick overview of what to expect before, during, and after your first appointment.

Before your appointment

  • Complete your new client forms and fill them out in advance, if you are unable to complete them online please reach out to notify me and arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete them.

  • Review the FAQ’s found under each program page and reach out with any questions

  • Make sure you know how to find me! Please note that my studio room is inside of Total Body Wellness Clinic, that will be the name on the door.

  • Hydrate as much as possible!

  • Refrain from drinking alcohol or using recreational drugs, being hungover or under the influence of painkillers/marijuana does not allow for a safe session and the appointment will have to be rescheduled.

    - Please refer to these additional guidelines if you are receiving cupping therapy -

  • Do not use aggressive exfoliation prior to your appointment, avoid shaving for at least 4 hours in advance.

  • Do not come hungry or thirsty! Ideally increase your water intake for 2-3 days in advance if possible.

  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods or drinks, dairy and processed meats if possible.

When you arrive

Please arrive a few minutes early to your appointment so you can feel relaxed and not in a rush. You will enter Total Body Wellness Clinic as our lobby space is shared.

Help yourself to any tea and water, it’s a good idea to use the restroom which will be down at the furthest end of the hall on the right.

In the privacy of the treatment room we will review your forms, go over any further questions you may have, and discuss details of the treatment.

During your session

You will be given time to undress to your comfort level and get comfortable on the table, I will let you know prior if you should be face down or up. I will knock and ask permission to enter the room. Any adjustments to pillows or the face cradle can be made when I enter to ensure you are comfortable.

You should expect to be comfortable and relaxed during your massage. I will periodically ask for your feedback on pressure or techniques, if at any time you experience any pain or discomfort at any time please speak up! I am not in your body to know exactly what you feel and want to be sure you are comfortable.

End of session/checking out

I will let you know when the session has ended and exit the treatment room for you to get up and redress. Take your time when getting off the table to allow your body to readjust, once you are dressed and ready for me to come back in just leave the door ajar.

We will discuss how the session went, how you feel, answer any questions, and make any notes for your next massage.

You will be checked out and can schedule any follow up sessions at that time.

Please know that tipping is always appreciated, but never required or expected at any time.

After your appointment

Most people will feel relaxed after a massage, however that may vary depending on your personal condition or modality received. Deeper tissue or cupping may leave you feeling a little sore for a day or two, just like after a workout. Increasing your water intake and getting extra rest is always encouraged to help your body make the most of the time you have invested in taking care of yourself.
